Rev Dick Weaver &
Rev Cathy Barker Welcome you to Plymouth Church
Geography of Grace
September 25,2014-November 25, 2014
How is it with your soul? How do you tend your inner geography - the mountains, the deserts, the marshes? In this session of soul-tending based on the work of Parker Palmer, we will create a circle of trust, learn honest and open questions, and help “hear
each other into deeper speech.”
We will have a free introduction session on Thursday September 25, 2014 in our Fireside Room from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Classes will all be on consecutive Thursdays at the same time with the exception of our retreat, which is Friday evening November 14th to Sunday afternoon November 16th at Camp Mimanagish. The cost is $10 for the materials and $75 for the retreat. Please bring a journal or notebook and something to write with as well as a mug for a beverage of your choice.
Capital Campaign Update
The architect drawing for our beautiful new entrance. We hope to have this finished around November 1, 2014!
As this goes into motion, please remember to use the downstairs door or the Education Wing doors until we are done.
New Adult Ed Class!
As promised, Cathy Barker will soon lead a study of the Biblical book called Acts of the Apostles. Part 1, written by StillSpeaking author Tony Robinson, will lead us through the first 6 chapters in 6 weeks. Acts chronicles the birth of the early church, with all its ups an downs, as the disciples tried to follow Jesus' way AND stay alive! You'll see danger, joy, and quarrels in the early days of the faith. What can we learn from their experience?
Because some folks have a Tuesday morning commitment, the series will begin on Wednesday nights only, 7-8:30 starting October 22. Tuesday morning sessions will begin as needed in November. The resource book costs $5, and it's also available online. There will be homework; at least 30 minutes a week of reading and faith reflection. All are invited to participate - no prerequisites!
Lunch & Learn: AARP Update
State President of AARP Montana, Joy Bruck, will speak at Plymouth Church, 400 S. Oakes, at noon on Wednesday, October 29. AARP will participate in many legislative issues this coming year, and Ms Bruck will take this opportunity to explore with members of the interested public a couple of concerns. Ballot Issue LR 126 concerns the elimination of Same Day (voter) Registration. Time permitting she will also discuss the Affordable Care Act and the prospects of expanding Medicaid, as well as senior fraud and senior abuse.
Bring a sack lunch and join the discussion. Coffee and water will be provided in the lower level of the church. There is no cost to participate. Because of remodeling the upstairs main entrance is currently closed to public access. Guests are encouraged to use the lower parking lot and the entrance closest to it.
